Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This policy explains what information NahalHome collects when you use this website and how it is used. NahalHome is a real estate marketplace operated from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, that connects visitors with independent real estate professionals.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, role (buyer or agent) and your password, which is handled by our authentication provider. Agents may also provide a company name, biography, license number, years of experience, social media links and a profile photo.
  • Inquiries: your name, email address, optional phone number, message and, if you request one, a preferred visit date and time, together with the property you asked about. This applies to the contact form and to the chat assistant. If you are signed in, the inquiry is linked to your account.
  • Favorites: the properties you save while signed in.
  • Listing views: when you open a property page we may record the listing viewed, your account if you are signed in, your IP address and the page that referred you.
  • Listing content: information and photos that agents upload about their properties.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies needed for the site to work:

  • Session cookies from our authentication provider keep you signed in.
  • A language cookie remembers whether you use the site in Spanish or English (up to one year).
  • A referral cookie (up to 30 days) remembers the agent whose link brought you to a listing, so that agent's contact details are shown to you.
  • A short-lived cookie (24 hours) per viewed listing avoids counting repeated views of the same page.
  • We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or third-party analytics services on this website. Our providers may keep standard server logs.

How we use information

  • To create and secure accounts and let you sign in.
  • To deliver your inquiries to the agent responsible for the listing and to notify the NahalHome team by email.
  • To show agents statistics about their listings, such as views, favorites and inquiries, and to attribute referrals.
  • To save your favorites and remember your language preference.
  • To detect and limit spam and abuse. For inquiry rate limiting we store a one-way hashed form of your IP address, not the address itself, and only temporarily.
  • To operate, maintain and improve the platform.

Who can see your information

The agent responsible for a listing, and NahalHome administrators, can see the inquiries sent about that listing, including your name, email address, phone number and message, and any notes or follow-ups the agent records about you. Agent names, photos, phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers and email addresses are shown publicly on their profile and listing pages.

We use service providers to run the platform, including Supabase (authentication, database and file storage), our hosting provider, and an email delivery provider for internal notification emails. These providers process information on our behalf. Buttons that open WhatsApp take you to WhatsApp, which has its own terms and privacy practices. As the platform currently operates, we do not sell personal information.

Retention

We have not defined fixed retention periods for most data, such as inquiries and listing view records. We keep information for as long as it is needed to operate the service, handle inquiries and meet our obligations. Data linked to an account, such as favorites, is removed if that account is deleted. Rate-limiting records are temporary.

Your choices

Agents can update their profile information from their dashboard. There is currently no self-service option to delete an account or export data. You can contact us to ask to access, correct or delete information we hold about you, and we will handle requests as reasonably as we can.

Security

We use an established authentication provider and restrict access to data by user role. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
